Conjunction

Conjunction is part of speech that functions to relate words, phrases, or sentences.

Classification of conjunctions :

a.       Coordinating conjunctions (so, or, but, and, for)

The conjunctions that is used to relate at least two independent clause.

e.g.      She is very beautiful, but no body likes her.

b.      Subordinating conjunctions

The conjunctions that is used to relate at least one independent clause and one dependent clause. (if, because, before, after, when, etc.)

e.g.      He is stupid because he is lazy.

Classification of Clauses :

1)      Independent Clause/ Main Clause

Clause that can stand alone

2)      Dependent Clause/ Sub Clause

Clause that can’t stand alone

e.g.  Jane was sleeping when I came last night.

             Independent Clause               Dependent Clause

Different :

a.       Who are you?

b.      I don’t know who you are.
